White Fillings, Root Canals and Extractions
White Fillings
White fillings are used to treat cavities and restore damaged teeth. These fillings are placed after the decayed portion of the tooth is removed.
Root Canals
A root canal is a procedure to treat infection or damage to the pulp (the innermost part) of a tooth. When a tooth becomes severely decayed or infected, the pulp can become inflamed or infected, causing pain. During a root canal, the dentist removes the infected pulp, cleans the inside of the tooth, and then seals it. In most cases, a crown is placed on the tooth to restore its strength and appearance. Root canals help save teeth that would otherwise need to be extracted and relieve pain caused by infection.
Extractions
Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone. This procedure is usually performed when a tooth is severely damaged by decay, disease, or injury, or if it’s causing overcrowding in the mouth. There are two types of extractions: simple extractions, where the tooth is visible and can be easily removed, and surgical extractions, which may be necessary for impacted teeth or those that are not easily accessible. After extraction, proper care is important to prevent infection and ensure proper healing.
Each of these procedures addresses different dental issues and aims to restore oral health, whether by filling cavities, saving an infected tooth, or removing a problematic tooth.
